One In An ARMY are extremely proud to announce the results of our third birthday campaign, Flow With Jimin, in partnership with Jimin Global benefiting MindLeaps in honour of Jimin’s birthday!

MindLeaps is an organization that uses dance to develop the cognitive skills and social-emotional learning of at-risk youth to ensure that they can succeed in school, enter the workplace and leap forward in life. Dance is the reason Jimin found his way to BTS and it remains a passion and fundamental element of his life. Jimin also has an incredible capacity for kindness. During the last two years it was open, Jimin made personal donations to cover uniform costs for the graduating students at Hoedong Elementary School (his old elementary school) as well as providing signed albums. He did this quietly, with no intention of it being publicly disclosed, simply wanting to give back to an institution that gave him a great start at life.

In fact, Jimin’s kindness made it difficult for the One In An ARMY team to decide on a non-profit when so many fit his interests and loving heart. But MindLeaps stood out to us because of their mandate. Not only do they teach at-risk youth the joys of dance (and all the wonderful side-effects of dancing) but their model helps youth succeed in education or employment and sets them up for a stable future – the same way Jimin helped the students at Hoedong Elementary School.

Together with Jimin Global we created Flow With Jimin and throughout October ARMY rallied together for the lovely children in Rwanda and raised $3563.67 from 243 separate donations from 40 countries in 31 days! These donations will fund the MindLeaps program in Rwanda for the rest of 2018 providing all kids at their center in Kigali!

In total, ARMY provided: 244 hours of dance classes, 128 hours of academic acceleration courses and 6000 meals! This was such an exciting and fulfilling campaign. ARMY chose love and kindness once again and the results will have a lasting impact on the lives of these children.

Graphic showing what the raised funds will provide. There is a picture of two Black children wearing MindLeaps t-shirts and drinking from neon yellow and pink glasses. The mouth of the taller child is covered by the glass. The shorter child is smiling and has their arm around the other child.

Not only did ARMY support the campaign with donations and retweets, but they also shared and encouraged each other through 24 Days of Kindness! Each day, ARMY were given a new prompt to remind themselves to be kind and thoughtful like Jimin.

At the end of the campaign, our friends at MindLeaps prepared this certificate in honor of what you did for their program:

Certificate from MindLeaps to BTS detailing the funds ARMY raised and what they will be used for. The certificate contains three pictures. The picture in the bottom left shows several Black children stretching in dance class. The bottom middle picture shows a classroom full of Black children, sitting at desks. The bottom right photo is the same photo that was included on the results poster.

It will of course be sent to BTS and BigHit Entertainment at their new office as soon as we have their new mailing address, but we encourage everyone who participated in the campaign to print out a copy for yourselves too!

We thought that was all, but MindLeaps had one last surprise for ARMY. These beautiful children with beautiful hearts – who have been touched by your kindness – prepared something for ARMY that they sent to us from their school in Rwanda!

Thank you, ARMY! We purple you from MindLeaps, Jimin Global, and One In An ARMY.

UPDATE: Since BigHit posted their new address in the fan cafe, we had our friends at MindLeaps send this letter documenting ARMY’s good work!

A letter from MindLeaps to BTS thanking them for inspiring their fans through generosity.
